Steps on How to Make a Bassinet Sheet With a Serger

A good way to measure this is by laying two tight-fitting mattress pads/sheets along each edge of your bassinet mattress and measuring how much overlap you have which will give you an idea of how far apart they need to be sewn together for them both to fit perfectly under the rolled-up cloth at once.

Remember, with a little stretch these seams do not have to match exactly but only needs to look fairly symmetrical when placed next to each other.

For most standard sized bassinet mattresses, the seams can be about nging down on either side. Steps on how to make a crib sheet with a serger.

Steps on to Make Flannel Crib Sheets

Step 1. Cut out the shape of your mattress. Make sure you add at least an inch and a half on each side for seam allowance.- Fold over this cut piece, wrong sides together (so that the good sides are both facing in) to make it about one inch thick.

Step 2. Sew down along three edges using straight stitches, leaving the fourth edge open where you’ll be able to stuff batting into your cover.

Step 3. Stitch two parallel lines down either side of what will become the bottom hem; these should be very close together but not touching. At regular intervals between these stitching lines, sew small squares back and forth across them to create little indents for tucking extra fabric inside.

Bassinet Mattress Cover Tips and Tricks:

Pinch the excess cloth as you go so that there isn’t too much bulk at any one time – Use enough pins or clips for this project, not just a couple here and there because it will save your fingers from lots of pins pricks!

Do NOT prewash fabrics unless they are 100% cotton as many other materials may shrink up different amounts which could cause severe issues in fitment once completed (the exception would be using flannel material if the bassinet is specifically made for infants).

When sewing over zippers avoids stitching them where possible instead opt to use a wiggly line of straight stitches.

Which is Better for a Newborn Crib or Bassinet?

A baby’s safety should always be the first concern when deciding on what to use.  Both will work fine, but it really depends on your preference and budget.

A bassinet is at a lower height, so it’s easier to take the baby in and out of.  However, when you purchase one for your newborn, there are some things to consider before buying.

How to Fold a Fitted Bassinet Sheet

If you’re starting with a flat sheet, fold it in half lengthwise and then pinch the corners together as shown. Fold up the bottom edge of your fitted sheet so that it’s now at least 14 tall (or whatever height is recommended for your mattress). Starting from one corner again, roll tightly towards the opposite corner.

Don’t worry if your sheet looks all wrinkled or not quite smooth. As long as it’s fitting snuggly over your foam core and mattress pad snugly, once we put on our outer fabric shell those wrinkles will disappear!

How often should crib sheets be washed?

Crib sheets should be changed twice or more per week. If your baby has a blowout, change the sheet immediately and clean up any mess from the mattress protector with soap & water before it dries to prevent odours from setting in. In addition, you may want to wash crib bedding at least once per month.

Tips on How to Use Bassinet

Replace bassinet mattress. Wash bassinet bedding regularly to prevent odours from setting in. In addition, do not use fabric softeners or dryer sheets on baby bedding and blankets as these products can irritate sensitive skin.

Keep your baby’s nursery well ventilated at all times, especially after diaper changes when the room is closed for a longer time period.

Change wet diapers promptly and keep any items that come into contact with soiled diapers out of your baby’s reach until you’ve had time to wash them thoroughly (this includes changing pads, stuffed animals, toys).

When travelling with children always bring stacking laundry baskets along since they make it easier to carry everything together instead of spread around the vehicle.
