Raising Recliner Chair Height
Step #1. Invest in furniture risers designed exclusively for reclining chairs. Furniture risers attach to your recliner’s legs and allow you to adjust the height in a few different inch increments.

Adjusting The Recliner Tension
Step #1. Check the tension of your recliner
The ease with which the backrest of the recliner leans backward is what we call “recliner tension.” Lean back against the backrest of the recliner.
Reduce the tension in the chair if it’s too difficult to lean back. If you have a slight build, lowering the tension may be a wise option because reclining the chair will need less strength.
If the chair is too far back for comfort or leans back too quickly, the recliner tension may need to increase. For more prominent people, taller people, and people who need firmer back support, this is usually an excellent idea.
Step #2. Forward-tilt the recliner
Ensure the back is straight and the footrest is closed, then gently tilt the entire recliner forward to reveal the chair’s underbelly.
Rest the chair on the top of its back and the front of the armrests. Adjusting the tension may require both hands, and attempting to hold the chair the entire time will make the procedure difficult.
Step #3. Look for a mechanism that you can adjust
You should find a set of thumbwheels or wing nuts beneath the seat of recliners with adjustable reclining tension. You may not be able to alter the tension if there is no mechanism.
On the right and left sides of the chair’s undercarriage, seek a thumbwheel or wing nut. Tension springs should be attached to the same bolt from the other side, at the end of a bolt, you should place each one in position.
Step #4. You should rotate the mechanism
Increase the reclining tension by turning the thumbwheels or wing nuts clockwise. Reduce the tension by turning them counterclockwise.
When dealing with recliner tension, both wing nuts and thumbwheels should be adjusted in the same way. Therefore, the essential procedures should remain the same.
Turn the mechanism with your fingers to see if it works. You may need to use robust pliers instead if it feels too tight.
Working in small increments is the best way to go. To maintain the tension uniform throughout, only spin each wheel or nut a quarter turn at a time, then repeat each adjustment on both sides of the chair.
Step #5. Adjustment is put to the test
Bring the recliner back to its original position. By extending the leg rest and leaning back in the chair, you may check the recliner tension. If the tension in your recliner is comfortable, you can stop here and rest in your newly adjusted chair.
