Steps on how to Make Hidden Back Tab Curtains

Step #1. First, you will need to cut two panels. I like my curtains to be around 104 inches wide and 12 feet long – this gives me plenty of length without being too short. You can do whatever width you prefer!

Step # 2. Next, take one panel and fold it in half so that the outside edges are touching each other. Now, fold it in half again.

Step # 3. After the second fold, you will have four layers of fabric that should be overlapping each other with the right side facing out. Use a pencil to mark where you want your tab to be along one long edge and then cut off this piece of fabric there – I like my tabs at about an inch, but you can make yours whatever length you prefer.

After this, take the other panel and fold it in half so that your inside edges are touching each other. Now, fold it in half again – there should be four layers of fabric overlapping with the wrong side out now (the right sides will face outward).

Use a pencil to mark where you want your tab to be along one long edge and then cut off this piece of fabric there.

Step #4. Take the two pieces that have been cut from the panels, line them up with a wrong side facing out, and use iron-on hem tape or machine stitching to attach them – I like to go about an inch in from the edge of the fabric for this, but it’s up to you.

Step #5. Now all that’s left is to sew a few straight lines across the end of your tab and then attach one side back in place be sure not to catch any part of the other panel when doing so!

Repeat these steps with both panels until they’re done.
