Troubleshooting Adjustable Beds

Before troubleshooting your adjustable bed, you need first to identify the problem.

“Is the head/foot not elevating properly,”

“Did your bed base shut down after a power outage?”

So, why is my adjustable bed not raising even?

These are some frequent problems that tend to show up among adjustable bed users.

Don’t worry. We will help solve the problem you are facing with your adjustable bed.

We have gathered information on how to troubleshoot specific problems that come up among adjustable bed users.

And here they are:

Problem #1. After a power loss, the adjustable bed base would not work

Unplug the power cord for 30 seconds before plugging it back in.

It will properly restart the bed and its electrical components.

Electronics should be appropriately restarted to avoid damages and wire trips that can be costly.

Make sure to unplug your bed when there is a power outage.

That will ensure the safety of your adjustable bed.

Problem #2. The head or foot part will rise but not fall back to its original (flat) position

You might have caused the functions in the base to jam.

Rise the base to a level wherein you can see its mechanisms.

Check for any obstructions and remove them.

Another problem is the head portion is too near to the wall.

Meaning it won’t go down properly since the wall is blocking its path.

Try adjusting it wherein there is a space between the wall and the headboard of the bed.

To realign the lift/lower mechanisms with the base support platform.

Raise the head or foot portion a short distance (using the remote control).

Problem #3. One of the remote control’s buttons is broken

Your adjustable bed should come with a user’s manual for your remote control.

There should be a guide on how to reprogram and troubleshoot your remote.

Then, if you can do the programming, have a technician look at it and ask him for help.

If you ask for assistance, you should not feel embarrassed, especially if it’s something unknown to you.

Problem #4. The adjustable base’s functions will not work

Contact customer support for your bed.

Customer support will most likely know what to do with your bed.

Contacting them is free, and you should use it if you have problems with your adjustable bed that you can’t solve on your own.

Another reason for this problem to come up is having a defective plug.

To test this, you can plug another appliance into the electrical socket.

If it is not working, have an electrician take a look at your outlet.

You might have trapped wires inside.

Problem #5. The bed is slanting

Check the legs. It might be damaged due to excessive use.

Replace them if damaged since it can be very dangerous.

Make sure that all the legs are standing on the same surface.

The floors may have bumps that affect the height of the bed.

Move the bed to even flooring for maximum comfort.

Problem #6. The base of the adjustable bed does not lift smoothly

The solution to this is the same as the first problem.

But, first, check for obstructions in the base mechanism of the bed.

It may be blocking the functions of the bed that allow it to elevate.

Remove it carefully.

Make sure you don’t break other mechanisms present in the bed.

If you are using the GW02 remote control for adjustable beds.

Replace the batteries if the clock looks dull when using it.

  1. I have an electric bed with a wired control pad. The bed raised itself whilst my wife was in the chair. She tried to lower the bed but it continued to raise both head and foot sides. Now the remote doesn’t respond, the led on the remote doesn’t light up when you press any button but occasionally will do so briefly before stopping altogether
