Putting Together a Flexsteel Recliner

Steps to Assembling a Flexsteel Recliner

Step One: Start by setting your new flexsteel recliner upside-down on an even surface. Make sure that the seat is facing up and the front of the chair faces you.

Step Two: Grab one side of a crossbar, loop it over to meet with its adjacent bar at the top corner. Now repeat this step with the other side of the crossbar.

Step Three: Next, grab one end of a metal bar and set it in place on top of your recliner’s backrest (the horizontal bar) as shown below. The arm should be pointing downwards, towards you, with its opposite counterpart resting on top of the seat itself to provide stability.

Step Four: Repeat this step with the other end of your metal bar. This will help to create a ‘+’ sign shape in the backrest, allowing you to use it as a handle for moving and adjusting the recliner’s position.

Make sure that neither side tilts downwards when placed on top of the seat (if it does, then your bar is not at an angle of 90 degrees). The top and bottom bars should still be parallel with one another in a ‘+’ shape.

Step Five: Make sure that the ‘top’ end of each metal bar resides on the backrest and not on the seat. This will ensure stability when using the recliner.

With this, it should be safe to place the backrest of your chair against a wall or in front of another furniture piece for stability.

Do not pull the metal bar too tightly, as this will make it difficult for the chair to lean back on its own

What is Flexsteel Recliner?

Flexsteel Recliner is furniture that has been manufactured in the USA for over 40 years. The company’s history began with its first recliners, which were made of wood and metal wire springs. Flexsteel was founded by two brothers (Harold and Ben Kaplan) who believed in providing quality products at an affordable price.

Flexsteel’s recliners are made to provide comfort and support for the user, from head to toe.

The use of metal coil springs makes it possible for each person’s body weight to be evenly distributed across the chair during movements like leaning back or rocking in a seated position.

Features of Flexsteel Recliner

  • Flexsteel Recliners are available in a variety of styles, colors, and dimensions.
  • They also come with reinforced seats to avoid sagging or breaking over time. And the company offers free shipping for all orders that exceed $100 (no matter how many recliner chairs you order).
  • Plus they have an easy-to-follow assembly manual.

How to Prevent Wear and Tear on Flexsteel Recliner

#1. To ensure that the chair is both comfortable and durable, it’s important to follow these guidelines:

#2. Apply a small amount of leather conditioner or other upholstery protectors on the arms every few weeks.

#3. Avoid using too much pressure when sitting down in your recliner, as this can damage the springs inside.

#4. Always use the recliner’s safety lock to keep it from unfolding when you’re not wearing it.

#5. Avoid using a chair with loose or broken parts, which can lead to injury.

Anatomy of Recliners: What’s Inside?

A typical recliner contains these major components:

The back recliner: this is where the user sits.

The swivel base, which allows you to pivot from side to side in your chair.

A control mechanism that lets you adjust how far up or down and forward or backward it reclines. This may be a lever on the arm of the chair,  a rotating lever on the arm, a dial, or push buttons.

A footrest: most recliners have one of these to provide extra comfort for your feet.

The seat cushion with foam padding and an upholstery protector covers it.

Arms with fabric wrapped around them. These can be leather or other materials like vinyl.

A seatback with a tray that can serve as the armrest.

The recliner mechanisms: these are what makes your chair work and they include casters, springs, footpads, and other parts.

The airbag mechanism is also part of this system; it’s usually found in higher-end models of furniture to provide a smoother recline.
