What are some problems with Martha Stewart Patio Chairs?

One common problem that may occur with your outdoor chair is a loose seat bottom – this can be repaired by either replacing the sling or the entire seat bottom

Another common problem is the fraying of the sling – this can be repaired by replacing the slings or just sewing up a few loose threads

Lastly, some chairs have been known to develop cracks in their frames. This usually happens over time and with extensive use from sun exposure. Cracks in metal frames are fairly easy to repair, but if you see any signs of weak welds in your chair’s frame then it may be best to replace it before one break leads into another

What should I do if my Martha Stewart Living outdoor furniture needs maintenance?

Step 1. Replace sling

Step 2. Sew up loose threads in the slings or replace them if they are too far gone. See how to do this here: Repairing Slings on Outdoor Furniture

Step 3. Replace cracked frames – see how to repair a broken frame below for more information on how to fix when you have metal frames that need repair. If your chair has plastic, resin wicker and other materials then it’s best not to try anything yourself as these can only be repaired by professionals.

What type of chair should I buy for my space?

If your deck or porch has a high ceiling then an armchair would work well with its lower back height (this allows more headroom). If there is a lower ceiling then the armchair will be overwhelming.

Ottomans work well for small spaces and are often more affordable than chairs. They can also double as extra seating when needed or used as footrests/coffee tables.

  1. have the swivel rocking chair. Chair acts like it is on the head of a pin! if you are on it it just Falls back & forth and from side to side. It is not safe > I tried to tighten , but that only held for a day. Help

  2. I’m having the same issue. Seems like something might be off inside the barrel, but I can’t loosen the bottom nut to get it apart to diagnose the problem. I think I’m going to try to shim the gap that has formed between the barrel and plate to see if that fixes it.

  3. I too am having the same issue…I have had mine for about 7-8 years and for the first few years the bolt assembly worked fine then I had to start tightening this bolt a few times every summer season. Now, it doesn’t stay tight at all. Wish I could get a new bolt assembly, but I have a feeling these bolts were made as a specialty size for these rocker, swivel chairs. Does anyone know who manufactured these chairs?

  4. I have the same problem as those previous comments. Has any solution been found?? I love the chair otherwise and it was fine for quite a while.

  5. Aha. On anothe site I discover that it probably needs a new bushing. Fine, but how do I get the post apart? I have the small bolt out of the bottom of the base. Do I take a hammer or something to get it out?

  6. I have a Martha living wicker swivel rocker. When seated the chair sits on the base and it will not swivel or rock. How can I lift the chair from the base
