Steps on Mounting Wheels on a Swivel Chair
Step 1. Prepare your work area by laying down a towel and placing the hardware on top. You’ll also want to have another towel or rag close by in case you get any metal dust onto your clothes.
Step 2. Loosen all of the bolts, screws, nuts, washers and anything else holding your chair together with an Allen wrench (or similar)
Step 3. Carefully take off the old wheels and set them aside. You will need to drill a hole in each of your new swivel chair’s base plates and then screw on the bolts from inside so that they protrude outside through the drilled holes. When you do this, be careful not to cross-thread anything! If you do, you run the risk of damaging your chair.
Step 4. Slide on your new wheels and tighten them with a wrench or screwdriver (depending on how tight they are). If they’re loose, use some plumbers tape to secure them in place. These components must be tightly fastened so that no one will accidentally get hurt.
Step 5. After you have tightened your new wheels, use a drill to make holes in the base plates of each chair leg and then secure them with nuts on the inside of the legs. Again, be careful not to cross-thread anything! Take care as it can damage your furniture if done incorrectly.

Step 7. You can also put some rubber furniture pads underneath your legs so that they don’t scratch up your floors if you’re worried about how deep those bolts will go into your floors.
How to Install Grip Ring Stem Casters
Step 1. Buy a grip ring stem caster from your local hardware store. The stem caster should be the same size as the screw holes on the bottom of your chair.
Step 2. Put one foot onto the first chair leg, then thread the other foot onto the second and tighten them in place with bolts on either side of each wheel. Repeat for the other side.
Step 3. Be sure to buy enough bolts for your chair, so that the caster is secure and in place with one bolt on either side of each wheel.
