Step #1. Prepare our unit and materials
So, please take out your unit from its packaging since we’re going to use it to achieve our desired dimensions.
We’re also going to need some wood, aluminum channels, acrylic sheets, and window stripping. And we’ll also need a thick piece of material that can function as a brace.
If your air conditioner is too tiny for your window, you’ll need some casing trim and screws later on.
Step #2. Attach the wood as a bolt
Choose the window where you’re going to put the window AC. Then, align it in the center and let someone measure the gaps on both sides.
You’ll use this measurement to cut out some wood to be used as bolts. Altogether, you’ll cut out four pieces of wood with equal thickness and length.
Two wood bolts will be attached to each side of the window using screws. And you will place the other two on the sides of your AC.
So, once you’ve placed your equipment later on, the two pieces of wood on one side will be in contact with each other, and they could secure the AC on the sides. Note that you can use metal instead of wood.
Step #3. Place the weather stripping
We can observe a metal ridge on the bottom of your window. This ridge will secure the bottom of the unit by connecting with the aluminum channel attached to the AC.
This channel comes with our purchase and is already a part of your unit. However, there’s a gap at the bottom because the unit would create a depression.
We will use weatherstripping to lessen that gap and add more security to the placement of your unit.
Position the strip inside the aluminum channels of the unit, both top and bottom.
Step #4. Add the base
So, you will combine this material with the aluminum channel on top of the unit. You can buy the top brace at any hardware store.
Its width should fit the window opening and secure the air conditioner in place.
You’ll directly slide it through the window’s sides and push it gently to seal the positioning of your AC.
And note that it should have an aluminum channel on the top. Or you can attach them yourself.
Step #5. Slide in the acrylic sheets
You don’t want to have insects entering your room while sleeping. And since your window won’t be functioning because of the AC, these sheets will serve as windows.
Buy 3-4 acrylic sheets depending on how wide your window is. Trim them if necessary.
And you can add a casing trim on the upper side of your unit if needed.
Portable Air Conditioner In Your Casement Window

Step #1. Prepare your window kit
Choose the window for the ventilation process of your air conditioner.
Check if the window panel fits the size of your window opening. If not, you can add some foam or acrylic sheets to fill them in.
Step #2. Insert the window panel
Before putting the panel in, you can attach a screen to cover your window to prevent insects from entering your hose. Or you can just cut a piece of it and secure it to one end of your hose.
Slide in the window panel with the hole for your exhaust hose. Your kit should have three boards, but you cannot or use all of them. Secure the panel(s) using screws and a drill.
Step #3. Fill in the gaps
You can use acrylic sheets to make it look like a window. Like nothing was different. And it would still bring light to your room.
However, you can also choose to buy foam and cut it to fit the gaps in your window. But expect that your room will become darker. And that is how to install air conditioner in casement window.
