Lucky for you, you don’t even have to fret over hole drilling concerns. All you need is two tension rods that can fit your shower’s width from one wall to the other. However, you can also get yourself a set of double-sided curtain hooks.

Both methods are quick and efficient ways to hang double shower curtains. For single-rod methods, hang the curtains on the double-sided hooks. Make sure to place the liner on the inner layer where it faces the shower.

Single rod method

If you already have a shower curtain hanging in your bathroom, then you don’t actually have to get yourself another rod. Get yourself another tension rod. However, you do need to take a trip to the store to get yourself some double-sided hooks.

These hooks are different from the regular s-hooks that you normally see. Even if they also have two hooks, these are not the ones that you should be looking for. The double-sided hook that we are talking about should have a total of three hooks: one on both sides and another at the top.

Step 1: Measure.

Use a tape measure to identify the height of the tension rods. Install them according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Ensure that the tension rod is leveled so that you don’t have curtains falling over to one side. Now, hang the hooks.

Step 2: Hang the curtains.

Take your curtain liner and hang it on the inner side of your shower. Remember that its main purpose is to protect your curtain from water exposure. Create an opening in the middle by hanging half of the curtain on the right side and the other on the left.

This will give you a grand kind of opening instead of the regular single-curtain effect. Make sure to divide the hooks along with the curtain’s header to distribute the weight of the material. Do the same for your actual shower curtain. This time, hang it on the outer side.

Double rod method

If you have the luxury of buying a tension rod, or perhaps you happen to have one lying around, then let’s put that to good use. Please use a tension rod that is not entirely the same. Try to go for one that is significantly thicker or thinner than the one you have.

If you have two same-sized tension rods, you don’t really have to get yourself another smaller one. As long as they are the same length, it will work just fine when learning how to hang double shower curtains.

Step 1: Install rod

Install the first rod, which should be the larger one of the two. This will hold your actual shower curtain, so place it an inch or two further from its original placement. Hang your second rod closer to your shower at an inch lower than the first.

Make sure that these two rods are close together in a diagonal direction. Avoid directly aligning them in any way. Level your rods to ensure a straight and secured way of hanging your curtains. Make sure that it won’t fall off too easily.

Step 2: Install clips and rings.

Take your hooks or clip rings and hang the shower curtain liner on the inner rod, closer to the shower room. Make as many adjustments as you would like. Please do the same to your shower curtain, this time hanging it to the outer tension rod.

Remember that you should be able to hide the inner rod using your outer shower curtain. Position it in such a way that you can easily draw your curtains open and close with ease and without either of them getting in each other’s way.

What’s the difference?

Obviously, the difference between single and double rod methods is the number of tension rods and curtain hardware. They pretty much function the same way, offering the same kind of curtain look.

We have two methods to give people options and allow them to work with what they have. So whether you have two tensions or a set of double-sided hooks, let your creativity run wild into transforming your bathroom into a luxurious private chamber.

Don’t be afraid of adding accessories such as a curtain ball fringe or other kinds of appealing additions to make your bathroom appear one of a kind. You can hang your curtains using a snap-open clip ring or just the regular hooks.

Try to make your own grommet top shower curtains for a more professional look. You can easily create them with a few sewing equipments and basic sewing skills. Either way, it’s important to maintain an aesthetically pleasing and functional bathroom using shower curtains and liners.
