Step #8. Place your curtain rod over the bracket, and hang your curtains on it.

Attach a new piece of string to each end of the vertical blinds so they are able to be pulled up as needed, but not down when you don’t want them opened.

How to Clean Curtain Rods

Step #1. find a large bucket of soapy water and fill it up about halfway with lukewarm water

Step #2. place your curtain rod into the bucket, allowing it to soak for an hour or more in order to loosen dirt and grime that has accumulated over time

Step #3: once it has soaked for an hour, take your curtain rod out of the bucket and rinse it off with clean water. Use a rag or sponge to scrub the curtain rod with soap and water

Step #4: if necessary, repeat steps three through four until all dirt is removed from each part of your curtains rods and they are fully clean

Step #5: let your curtain rods dry in a well-ventilated place for at least two hours before putting them back up

Note. Some people prefer to use vinegar instead of soap, which may help remove mildew or tough stains more effectively than just soap and water.

Benefits of Covering Vertical Blinds with Curtains

  • Curtains allow you to control how much light is coming into your room
  • They are a great way to hide an ugly window treatment or wallpapering without having to spend too much money
  • They can help provide privacy and keep kids entertained while allowing them still be able to see outside.

What are Vertical Blinds?

Vertical blinds are a type of window treatment that is usually made out of lightweight, metal slats or plastic.

The width and spacing between the slats can be adjusted to provide more or less light into different areas in your home.

You may have vertical blinds installed on your windows if they are adjacent to  a window with a large expanse of glass, are close to the floor or ceiling, have nearby object that may be damaged if hit by an unfiltered beam of light, require privacy for reading in bed, or need special ventilation.

What’s the Difference Between Vertical Blinds and Curtains?

Vertical blinds can block out even more light than curtains, and are therefore useful for areas like bedrooms or kitchens.

They can also be used to provide privacy in the living room when you don’t want people staring into your home through a window with sheer curtains.

Vertical blinds may not work well on windows above head height because they will prevent easy viewing of what’s going on outside the window.

If you need to cover a large expanse of glass, vertical blinds are less likely to fill your space because they have limited width and height for how much fabric can be contained inside them. Vertical blinds also cost more than curtains when it comes time to replace or repair them.

When to Change Vertical Blind with Curtains?

When you need to cover a large expanse of glass such as windows in an office, the living room or even bathrooms. Curtains can be used for privacy but still allow light through them and are also useful when it comes time to replace or repair them.

Vertical blinds have limited width and height so if the window is not at least twice the width of a vertical blind, they may not cover it and will cost more than curtains.

Tips for replacing your Vertical Blinds with Curtains

When you need to cover an area much wider than a single window or if there is too little natural light coming into your space, use draperies on top of your vertical blinds.

Drape curtains or fabric from the top edge of one set to the top edge of another across a corner, then tie them together securely on each side and you will create an area that is twice as long as your window plus overlap

To achieve privacy in all but slits at the tops of windows, use two sets of draperies. Drape one set from the top edge of just one window to the top edge of another, then pull across and drape a second set over it, tying them together securely on each side

If you need privacy but want light to filter in through your vertical blinds at night or for whatever reason, use panels of sheer fabric. Drape panels of sheer or semi-sheer fabrics vertically on top of the vertical blinds, and tie them securely to each side

You can use a variety of materials for your curtains; just remember that heavy drapes will block out more light than lightweight ones–and vice versa.
