Steps To Build Pedestal For Washer And Dryer

Building a pedestal is very time-consuming; most people call experts to make it, but if you can build it yourself, why do you call an expert? Read the below-mentioned steps carefully to learn how to build pedestal for washer and dryer:

Step #1. Make a plan for the pedestal

Determine the length and breadth of your washer and dryer to get started. The pedestals must be at least that size. Sizing is significant to building a pedestal, so first, make a plan and cut your frames. After that, you may create a single long pedestal that will fit beneath both the washer and the dryer.

Step #2. Make a wooden frame

Get quality wooden racks cut them to build a frame, first check the length and breadth of the bottom of your washer and dryer so you can easily cut the edge of exact size. You should use 2x5s for one side and 2x6s for the other. Then, dividing the area roughly in thirds, create two supports to fit within the frames.

Step #3. Make the legs

Your baskets must slide between the frames. Therefore the legs must be long enough. Measure the height of the baskets, add approximately an inch, and cut a 2×6 to that length. Make another length six inches longer and spray it with varnish for a polished effect. Sketch a notch solely on a single end to slide over the 2×6 frame and a second slot on the other back to fit over the 2x5s after that has dried. Using a jigsaw, cut the notches as illustrated. Carry on with the technique for the remaining three sides.

Attach the smaller feet to the larger ones between the slots with 2.5-inch deck nuts, forming legs for every corner with the painted section facing within the pedestal. Place the portion in a corner and apply construction glue to the longer notch to slide well over a 2×6 frame.

As illustrated, cut probe holes in the leg and secure it to the frame using 2.5-inch deck bolts. Carry on with the remaining portions in the same manner.

Step #4. Place lower shelf

Cut the plywood panel to the measurements of the lower frame with a round saw and a steel rule. To fit the discussion around the legs, screw two pieces of 2×6 together and use them to mark holes at the ends. A jigsaw can be used to cut the notches. Place the panel into place, then use 2.5-inch finish screws in a few inches on both sides and back to secure it to the frame, as indicated.

Step #5. Add upper frame

Apply adhesive glue to the holes just at the top of the feet. Then, as indicated, put the 2×4 frame in position. We were using 2.5 inches decking screws through the structure’s exterior and into the feet.

Step #6. Attach the beadboard

Clamp a piece of beadboard to the rear of the frame, level with the top of the structure and aside so that the design faces in. Every few inches, secure the panel with 1.4-inch deck screws. Connect the second rear panel to the first in the same manner.

Step #7. Make the stiles

To make the pedestal, create two 1x4m and four 1x5m to the desired height, place a 1x4m down one side, level with the front edge, and secure it with screws. Next, construct a sideboard by attaching a 1x5m toward the front side of the pedestal, covering the 1x4m flat edge. Repeat the procedure for the second front corner, then place a 1x5m to both sides’ rear edges.

Step #8. Add the rails

As illustrated, each 1x4m side rail should be marked to fit between the stiles. They should be cut to length and nailed together. Install the lower front rail to cover the bottom of the plywood panel and repeat the process for the other two front fences. The exposing frame beneath the bottom rail will be concealed with molding in the following stage.

Step #9. Add the panel molding

The front and side parts of panel molding should be marked, mitered, and installed level with the top of the wood. Paintable sealant should be used to fill all seams, nail openings, and screw gaps. Paint the pedestal after priming the wooden top. Know how to remove the control panel from the Whirlpool duet sport.
