Steps on Adding Swivel Base To Oversized Club Chair

Materials Needed:

  • Swivel base (available at various stores)
  • Screwdriver or drill with a Phillips head attachment
  • Power saw capable of cutting wood, metal and plastic; preferably a scroll saw as it’s the best for curves but other types will work too. A jigsaw is useful if you want to make a cut with straight edges.
  • Wood clamps
  • Electric drill or screwdriver
  • Power saw capable of cutting metal and plastic, preferably a jigsaw as it’s the best for curves but other types will work too. A scroll saw is useful if you want to make a cut with curved lines (optional)
  • Sandpaper (various grits; 120+ recommended)
  • Fine steel wool or 220+ grit emory paper (optional)

Instructions:

Step 1. To get started, remove all of the screws on the bottom of your chair and set them aside in a container.

Step 2. Place the chair on a flat surface, preferably at an angle so you can see how much of the bottom needs to be cut off. Measure how many inches need to be trimmed from each leg and write it down before continuing.

Step 3. This will ensure that your chair is level after adding the swivel base. For our example, we’re going to take one inch off all four legs. Make sure this measurement is accurate or else your pieces won’t match up properly when assembling them!

Step 4. Use either an electric drill or screwdriver and make two pilot holes in opposite ends of each piece where you want to cut out for screws (one hole per piece). A good place for these is near corners because the pilot holes will be hidden.

Use the appropriate drill bit to make a hole in each of these pilot holes, deep enough for where you plan on inserting the screws. This should now help create a space that’s big enough to insert your screwdriver or electric drill into and then tighten it down with either an Allen key (included) or hex nut (also included).

Step 5. Place one piece on top of another after cutting off how much length is needed from them both, making sure they’re lined up properly as shown above so that when assembling them later they’ll match up perfectly. Insert your two pieces together by tightening in opposite directions: turn clockwise until tightly secured if using an Allen key and turn counterclockwise until tightly secured if using a hex nut.

Step 6. Insert the swivel base into space you created earlier by lining up their two holes with how they’re lined up in your chair’s arm and then tighten it down securely as shown below.

How do you Tighten Swivel bar Stools?

If you’re looking for how to tighten your swivel bar stool, this how-to guide will show you how. Whether it’s a sturdier way of getting on and off the chair or if there is too much movement in the stool that makes sitting uncomfortable, tightening your swivel bar stool with these instructions can make life easier!

Step 1. The first step is identifying what kind of hardware has been used by checking out how the swivel bar stool is connected to its base.

Step 2. If two bolts are going through each side of the chair, tighten them by turning clockwise with a wrench. Once you’ve tightened one bolt, move on to tightening up the other bolt and keep alternating until both sides feel sturdy when pushed down.

Step 3. If four nuts are holding your wheel in place, use an Allen Key or Phillips screwdriver to turn it counterclockwise for better stability. When loosened all the way around make sure that they’re tight enough so that your weight won’t cause movement from how far away you push!
