DIY Project: How to Make a Waterproof Bassinet Pad

After making a bassinet pad for my baby, I became obsessed with how easy the project was. So, I decided to make a how-to article of how to make a waterproof bassinet pad. If you want your child to have the most comfortable sleep possible, then this is how you do it! In this post we will discuss how to make a waterproof bassinet pad and why it’s important for your baby’s safety.

How to Make a Waterproof Bassinet Pad

Steps on How to Make a Waterproof Bassinet Pad

Step 1. Determine how large you would like your pad to be and then add an inch. This will be the size of all of your pieces so keep this measurement in mind as we move forward through these steps. Also, if you don’t want a waterproof bassinet pad, I recommend not reading any further!

Step 2. Measure how wide you would like each piece to be on both ends of the fabric strip (one for the top and one for the bottom). Subtract two inches from how ever long it is and that’s how big we need our center square to be. The center square was nine by nine inches and my side strips were seven by ten inches with a two inch gap between them. You can adjust yours however you’d like, just be sure to keep the center with a two inch gap.

Step 3. Pin all of your pieces together right sides facing each other and sew down both long ends using that original measurement (seven by ten inches). I made my seams about an eighth of an inch in but you can make them how ever thick or thin you’d like. You now have one piece! Repeat this process three more times for however many waterproof bassinet pads you would like to make.

Step 4. Sew up your side edges leaving enough space at the top where you will turn it inside out so that it doesn’t look terrible when we’re done sewing everything together! Make sure these are nice and sturdy because they’ll need plenty of support since there’s water involved .

We’re going to make a pocket for the pad we just made. Measure how wide you want it and how long but don’t forget that this should be as big as your waterproof bassinet mattress.

Mine was about 15 inches by 21 because I wanted my baby’s face not to fall anywhere near those seams. The height is totally up to you; mine was 14 inches tall so no water would ever go over his ears or anything like that, even if he spit up all of his milk!

That didn’t happen too often though. Turn everything inside out again and sew the top part closed where you left an opening before – remember NOT TO SEW THE BOTTOM OF IT YET!

How Many Bassinet Sheets do I Need?

You should have at least one sheet for each day of the week. You can always use an extra just in case, and it’s better to be safe than sorry! I also used two during those first few weeks when there were more blow-outs than usual, so having extras is definitely a good idea if you go through them as quickly as we did.

We ended up needing three or four sheets every other day because our little guy was such a spitter upper!

How do you Take the Bassinet off of a Baby Trend Pack N play?

You will need to un-snap the front, side and back panels. Once you’ve done that it’s just a matter of pulling on the bassinet until it comes off all in one piece! I would recommend putting some towels down on top of your pack n play so that when the bassinet is removed from its frame there isn’t any scratching.

How do you Pack a Baby Trend Pack N Play?

It really can be broken down in to two parts. The first part of the assembly involves snapping together all of the panels for your pack n play, once it’s fully assembled lay out some towels on top and then remove the bassinet portion from its frame by un-snapping front, side and back pieces.

Once that has been done just lift straight up until it comes off all in one piece! I would recommend putting some extra towels underneath when removing so that there isn’t any scratching or damage to either surfaces.

The second part which happens after you’ve removed this section needs only an extra step of folding over before packing away .

The final part of the assembly involves snapping together all of the panels for your pack n play, once it’s fully assembled lay out some towels on top and then remove the bassinet portion from its frame by un-snapping front, side and back pieces.

Is a Bassinet the Same as a Cradle?

No, a bassinet is smaller than a cradle. Cradles are used for full-size babies and they can usually be placed next to the parents’ bed.

Can Parents buy Used Bassinets?
